In 1954 The young men, Gogota George during his hunting adventure in Maramures village Valea Stejarului, when running to catch a wild boar, find two local young beautiful sisters, gathering plums on their orchards near forest. George, took his wife one of these beautiful sisters. After enjoying the sublime taste of these plums decides to establish a small  family distillery in honor of this moment !

Our Brandy Horinca – An exclusive double distilled brandy from Transylvania, Maramures-Oas country, handcrafted in traditional copper still, from selected fruit, by an original ancient recipe but matured 3-4  years in recharred french oak casks!

Our Fruits Distilled Brandies are 100 % natural, with no sugar or any other aroma added.

Carefully fermenting, patiently distilling cycle, long time maturing, casks preparing .. some of our value which we do not give up and to which we care very much !

2016Superior Matured Plum Brandy

  • Tasting notesOur own recipe ghives this brandy distinct favor especially by second distilling cycle Rested / Matured minimum one year in recharred Transylvania oak casks, brings lighter notes of dried plums, hints of distant sweet aromatic smoke, along with a gentle fruity touch. Blending comes with a casks strength for rich and sumptuous taste.

2018Pear Brandy

  • Tasting notesPear Horinca is delicate and fine, with precise tones of pear peel, accompanied in the background by impressions of acacia honey and walnuts. The taste is balanced and ripe, with an interesting acidity, which gives it freshness. In the aftertaste, the fruity aromas reach their climax, being accentuated by the well-integrated alcohol, the whole aromatic landscape being completed by some hints of vanilla, oak wood and bitter chocolate, conferred by the maturation in oak wood.
  • Ageingpear brandy is one of our very good and balanced spirit. Fermented from two different pear full of aroma and taste, carefully double distilled and minimum one year matured give this product unique taste and flavor.

2017Superior Matured Qiunce Brandy

  • Tasting notes3 years in recharred French oak casks, recharred and special prepared, quince brandy brings lighter notes of dried fruits, hints of distant sweet aromatic smoke, along with a gentle autumn quince touch. Blending comes with a casks strength for rich and sumptuous taste, filled with forest blackberry, black currant and herbs.
  • AgeingAbout 3 years in french recharred oak cask used previously for the red wines.
  • Food pairingsSushi, Cheese Fondue, Mushroom tart, Quail eggs, Salmon, ButterFish, Truffle sauce, Parmesan pasta, Crispy gnocchi with brown butter and sage, Amarena.

Gogota Family Distilery from MaramuresHistory & Tradition

This Handcrafted fruit Brandy – Horinca, has been produced in our area/Maramures for over 700 years. In the vein of this tradition, Gogota Family has improved the technological process creating their own special recipes.

With more than forty five years ago our family began to produce the Horinca from plums for life events and celebration !

After this period of experience in producing of various distillates, we combine family heritage along with the newest technology and facilities like a fully-licensed distilled spirits plant according with the EU regulations and new & modern processing and bottling operations flux in order to produce the exquisite brandies of many types of fruits especially from Plums, Apple, Pears, Wild Cherry, Quince, Horns and Grape.
For better blending control and for exquisite quality we distill and age the different aged potion separately, then blend the brandies to achieve a balance of flavors that have length on the palate and a complex depth.

Like a small family distillery and we have a rigorous testing process during the production. Our copper alembic still are traditional since 1957. After the second World War when in norther Transilvania in a small village Valea Stejarului Gogota Gheorghe established the first authorized distillery in the village.

Now, Stefan Gogota the son, heritor (who has lot of experience in hospitality management, communication, marketing and HoReCa development), along with his nephew (brother) Ioan Andrei Botis (who has lot of experience in real estate management, green buildings, valuation & development), started to rebuild this distillery with modern but traditional production facilities but strictly maintaining the traditional rules. Due to renovation and re-launch of production, our copper pot stills our pot stills are fitted with the modern facilities and especially with the recharred cask (own special patented method) in order to obtain the best and natural maturated premium brandy fully handcrafted in a small family farm, where people and HORINCA live by century-old rules !

Plum

Two varieties of ripe plums, picked and selected by hand, from the family orchards located in Maramures-Oas.

Regarding the varietal assortment. the predominant for our plum brandy, although there: ‘Tuleu gras’, ‘Grase romanesti’,  ‘Stanley’ !

Pear

Rested / Matured  for minimum one or three years in recharred Transylvania oak casks, brings lighter notes of dried plums, hints of distant sweet aromatic smoke, along with a gentle fruity touch. Blending comes with a casks strength for rich and sumptuous taste.

Quince
